Being above the line in our thinking

Would the person 100% responsible please stand up. I spent 4 seasons with the Brumbies Rugby organisation as GM Commercial Operations. A personal observation of differing opinions was that when the team was winning it was because of the players, when it was losing it was the fault of the coach. The reality lies somewhere in between as both have a role to play in winning and losing. Similarly, boards are very likely to take credit for the good times but blame the CEO for the bad times. Again the reality lies somewhere in between. Being at cause rather than at effect allows you to take 100% responsibility for your own actions, performance and then logically, your results. Be it a team, a coach, a board or a CEO – be aware of the role you play, what is required of you, the quality of your contribution and your impact on others. Remember TEAM – together everybody achieves more.
